It is a ceramic pizza stone as good as a real stone?

I've been cooking with just a metal pan and like my crust a little thick. What is the benefit of a pizza stone, which is better?

A pizza stone, ceramic or natural stone, works by holding of heat better than a metal pan can. The transfer of heat in the bottom of the crust better too. This will lead to a crispy crust.
